4. DNS/E-mail Questions
What are the primary and secondary DNS servers?
For your network configuration, use the primary DNS: 68.64.247.250 and secondary DNS: 208.32.175.74. When you register your domain or if you are moving a domain use primary DNS: 68.64.247.250 (ns5.capitalinternet.com) and secondary DNS: 208.32.175.74 (ns6.capitalinternet.com)

What is the difference between your DNS servers?
The local network configuration is for your server to resolve domain names. For example, if you are running an email server, your server needs to resolve the domain name of the recipient. To do this it needs to query a DNS server. Our cache only DNS server that is used for this is 208.4.52.7 (NS3.capitalinternet.com) When you register your domain name, the registrar will require at least 1 primary and 1 secondary DNS server to handle SOA lookups so the rest of the world can find your server. For this, use primary DNS: 68.64.247.250 (ns5.capitalinternet.com) and secondary DNS: 208.32.175.74 (ns6.capitalinternet.com).

I followed your directions, but I still don't see my site?
If you are moving your domain, you will need to change your Primary and Secondary DNS server with your domain name registrar (such as Network Solutions). When you change your Primary and Secondary, the information is written into the registrar's database right away, however it can take as long as a week for this information to propagate out to all the DNS servers around the internet. Some ISP's cache DNS information a bit longer than others; it may take time for the old records to expire and your new DNS information to be written to their tables. We suggest transferring your DNS first before your move to keep your site online.

I want Capital Internet to handle my DNS and/or e-mail. What do I need to do?
If this is a new colo account, be sure to mark that you want us to run DNS and/or e-mail on the on-line sign-up page. If this is an existing account, go to the link on our home page that says "DNS Changes / Additions" or submit a helpdesk ticket with the IP address that you want the domain pointed to and whether you'd like us to set up an MX record for you.
