What do I need for colocation (if I have an INDIVIDUAL SERVER PLAN)?
Any computer/server or telecommunications equipment will work. If you are colocating a web server for a large website or multiple websites, you may have more involved requirements. The more involved your web site(s), application(s) or other outsourced Internet infrastructure requirements and the more traffic your server will generate, the more powerful you should build your server(s) and other collocated hardware. An example hardware configuration for an average web server would be a Pentium 600mhz or higher, a minimum of 128 megs of ram, and a 20 GIG Hard drive. If you were going to run a database application, an additional server may be needed. In addition to the server(s), you'll need to bring the power cords for your server.

What do I need for colocation (if I am getting RACK SPACE at the colo facility)?
Rack mount hardware (with the exception of rack screws) is the responsibility of the customer to provide (i.e. rack rails, rack ears or shelves). In addition to the requirements for the Individual Server Colocation plans (i.e. the server(s) and a power cord for every server), you will also need to bring a switch. The reason for the switch is that you will be receiving one (1) CAT5 cable from our network to your servers, so you would bring our internet connection into your switch so you can run all of your collocated equipment off of your switch. Depending on the circumstance, a hub or router may be used in substitution of a switch. Also, you may need crossover cables from your switch or router to your servers. We provide the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), keyboard, monitor and mouse for you.

What is the typical installation time for my equipment?
Once your account paperwork has been processed and your first payment is received, a technical staff member from Capital Internet will call or e-mail you regarding scheduling and give you a reasonable timeframe for installation of your colocated equipment. Installations for non-rack-mounted equipment should take less than 30 minutes. Rack-mounted equipment install time may vary from 30 minutes to several hours to complete depending on the complexity of your equipment. Keep this in mind that if you are moving a server, you may want to set-up a temporary site during move in order to keep your visitors informed.
